About this blog

My name is Bryan Johnson and I am the founder and CEO of Braintree. I maintain this blog because payment processing is one of the most difficult components for businesses to manage. It is complex and can pose some significant security, strategic and technical challenges. I try to educate, inform, share my insights and answer questions to help users make better decisions. I've been in the industry for a while now, getting my start in the trenches selling door to door. If you need a resource I am happy to chat.

Simplify PCI DSS Compliance

Dec. 31, 2007 is the next PCI Compliance deadline

Posted on 4 October, 2007 under PCI DSS Compliance by Bryan Johnson

Now that the 327 Level 1 merchants appear to be getting closer to PCI Compliance, Visa is now setting their sites on Level 2 merchants that are defined as processing 1 to 6 million Visa transactions annually. There are currently 729 merchants in this category. As of August 31st, 38% were validated and 44% had submitted initial validation but were in remediation.

[…] I have always wanted to learn how online merchants achieve PCI compliance on their websites. Thanks to amazing step by step process diagram published on the site of BrainTreepaymentsolutions.com I finally know how it is done. The process is simple. The customer first starts the checkout process and enters the pay now or buy now button after filling in the details. This information is directly submitted to payment gateway. The Payment gateway processes this information and redirects the customer back to merchant’s site with get query string. On redirection, previous page of the merchant’s website is display. The site read the get query string and display appropriate message to the customer. The process is simple and anyone who doesn’t have PCI compliant environment can get it before the PCI Compliance deadline. […]
